Real Madrid's Nuri Sahin: Playing under Jose Mourinho is like winning the lottery

The Turkish international, who was a key figure in Borussia Dortmund's title-winning XI, is thankful that the Portuguese coach has brought him to the Bernabeu

Real Madrid's new signing Nuri Sahin has revealed his delight at being brought to the club by Portuguese coachJose Mourinho.

The Turkish international, who recently agreed a move from Bundesliga winners Borussia Dortmund to the Spanish capital, believes that he has the ability to become a regular in midfield for Real, despite doubts from pundits.

"That he [Mourinho] has bought me is a massive honour. To be able to play under Mourinho is like bringing up six numbers in the lottery," he told Bild.

"I am only interested in people who know me well. They know that I have sufficient quality to break through into a world-class team such as Real Madrid."

The 22-year-old missed the final weeks of the German campaign with a knee injury, and remains in the Ruhr to continue his recovery, but hopes to be fighting fit for the start of Madrid's pre-season.

He added: "I want to be fully fit for Real Madrid. My leg brace will come off on Sunday and after that I can return straight to some light running. The pre-season begins in Spain on 10 July; at that point I want to be fully involved after recovering from my knee ligament injury."

The cultured midfielder, who forged a formidable central midfield partnership with Sven Bender at Dortmund, is looking forward to learning Spanish and also said that he does not think there is a huge gap between his new employers and La Liga champions Barcelona.

He added: "I have begun to study the language. My goal is to master Spanish as quickly as possible and be fluent. I think that we are not so far away [from Barcelona]. I am honest enough to say that I also want to win titles with Madrid and to make my mark in Spain."
